5 Interior Design Books You Should Own
In a time were digital inspiration is literally at the tip of our fingertips (Instagram and Pinterest, we’re looking at you), it’s refreshing to find gorgeous coffee table books that inspire us to give our homes a little (or big) revamp. No matter how digital our life becomes, there is always space to hold and enjoy a beautifully printed interior design book whilst enjoying a glass of wine.

Dream Decor, by Will Taylor
Wildly popular lifestyle blogger Will Taylor of the the interior website Bright Bazaar takes us on an inspiring journey to discover fifteen decor destinations that each have a distinct and inspired style. From the colourful cool of Miami Brights to the eclectic urban hipster warehouses of Brooklyn and his much loved nautical theme of the Hamptons and Normandy. Now based in New York City, Will was featured in the TLS magazine (soon to be The Spotlight) and he’s as charming as he was back then. We can’t wait for his next book.

Expanding on her award-winning blog Mad About the House, Kate shares her vast knowledge and experience in home design to help you make the most of your space. No matter how big or small. The book is divided in sections that correspond to an area in your home, packed full of practical tips, like the rules of rug layout, how to buy a sofa, and getting the right lighting design in your humble abode. Her personality seeps through every page and it was such an honour to have featured her lovely words not only on our blog but also have interviewed her for our magazine.

We couldn’t have a list that didn’t include something a little more eclectic and unexpected. In true TLS style. A project born out of the eponymous blog The Selby, Todd Selby interviews and takes photographs of the homes of various offbeat characters, from Jonathan Adler to Erin Watson to Karl Lagerfield. This book will make your coffee table pop and Selby’s panache for intricate detail will have you reading for hours on end.
Beauty at Home, by Aerin Lauder
A very different vibe from Selby’s book, Aerin Lauder’s Beauty at Home is a love letter to the well-loved homes of the Lauder family. As the heiress to the Estee Lauder brand we’re prevue to the detailed millwork, hand-painted de Gournay wallpaper, sophisticated colour palette that envelopes their homes.

Modernism Rediscovered book Collection, Julius Shulman et al
This hardcover book looks back at forgotten architectural masterpieces, drawn from photographer Julius Shulman’s personal archives.
