Finally, the much awaited London Design Festival has arrived, and we started our week with a bang. After careful planning, and thanks to our great team, we were able to attend the main events and we’ve got all the highlights in case you missed them! And if you were there, here’s a trip back to last week’s fantastic events.

First up, we wore our most comfy shoes to discover Focus/18. We love it because it’s a manageable size event as it’s all contained within the beautiful Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour. It’s a glorious day with the sun shining right above a design nut crowd through the building’s dome.

The entire venue is buzzing with interiors professionals, the store’s doors open and on offer lovely nibbles, fresh juice and champagne. We hold off on the champagne but do take advantage of the coffee on offer (we’ll need it!) by a wonderful new Colombian company called Kinta Loma Coffee

We plan our morning to make sure we don’t miss out on the contagious and joyful energy of Sophie Robinson from Sophie Robinson Interiors with her talk on The Psychology of Colours using Sanderson paints at the Style Library. Her explanation of seasonal personalities gives us tons of ideas on how we work with our clients, who not only love our products but sometimes also need some of our interiors magic in their homes.

When playful experimentation comes into design only wonderful things can happen. Walking through artist Moritz Waldemerye’s interactive installation for the Design Hub at Focus/18 is the cherry on the design cake. A 12-metre-long walkway with a series of digitally fabricated octagonal coronas mounted on the wall. As you hold a fabric swatch under a special camera and the hidden LED lighting changes colour! Need we say more?

House of Hackney’s maximalist approach always catches our eye, and this time it was no different. Walking past their pop up shop, we were immediately drawn in by their deep and sumptuous patterns, velvets and intense hues. We felt right at home.

A hop and skip away, we’re back at the office dreaming of design. However, our journey is only starting and we’ve got more exciting highlights to share with your in the coming days from Decorex, Design Junction and 100% Design. Watch this space!
