Furniture Fairs in Europe: Maison & Objet | IMM Cologne 2018
Once again, The Longest Stay goes back to Paris to conquer the grandeur of the wonderful world of design in 48 hours at Maison & Objet 2018, we set out in our favourite (and most comfy) flats to scour 8 halls – the size of a football pitch each – only to find the best home accessories, lighting and designer furniture especially selected just for you. Earlier this month, we also headed to IMM Cologne in Germany, a smaller but equally exciting showcase of amazing brands in the interiors world.
We’ve been attending Maison & Objet (MO) since 2010 and we’ve seen a huge shift in companies’ willingness to move forwards and join online furniture retailers. So when we come back, year after year, it’s great to catch up with some of those brands that have been with us since the beginning as well as, discover new ones. It’s with Sherry’s keen eye for eclectic pieces and design that we begin our journey capturing some great micro-trends along the way.
Loud & Proud
With some many amazing exhibitors it’s hard to know where to stop. But, when you see these pieces from across the aisle there’s nowhere else to go. The patterns and colours in Isabelle de Borchgrave for Serax vases captivated us from the get go and we’re excited to announce that we’ll be adding them to our collection very soon. In addition, we love the fresh and eclectic sculptural approach to fruits by Bull & Stein.
Midas Touch
You only need to browse the first few products in our collection to know that we love a bit of gold. Not only to accent – pretty much – all colour schemes, but also pieces covered entirely with this luxurious shade. Boca do Lobo’s mirror and Luxurious Living’s cabinet are key pieces to bring your home to life.
All Clear
One of our favourite lighting brands was on show at MO2018 and this time they impressed us by creating mini versions of one of our best sellers, the Never Ending Glory pendant lights by Lasvit. And of course, our spoilt pooch Bella Do also had a treat with Acrila’s royal doggy bed.
Considering the entire design world is already deep into preparations for Salone del Mobile in April in Milan, IMM Cologne offers a well structured and beautifully presented insight at ‘Pure’. It showcases sensational creations by international designers and newcomers as well as first-class concepts and solutions by leading suppliers. Below some of the new and established designers that caught our eye…
