Guest Blog: Furnishing Your Home with Love
It is our pleasure to introduce our guest blogger Sophie from My Warehouse Home. Sophie fills us in on how she would furnish the home she never wants to leave when it comes to Valentine’s Day and how her Mr Right helps her along the way...
Mr MWH and I have been together for 12 years and yet he still manages to surprise me. His gifts are thoughtful and personal, often surprise trips and shared experiences, and even when he is away or working long hours, he still leaves little scribbled notes around our home or inside my books to make me smile. I'm not sure he knows how much I treasure them or that I keep every one in the desk in my study. Also in my study are our albums. On our wedding day, Mr MWH presented me with a beautiful leather album from Aspinal, which he had filled with favourite photos of our first years together, all accompanied with notes and memories. Every so often, he surprises me with another album to add to the collection.

I love black & white pictures in particular and our home is filled with framed photographs from our wedding, pictures of loved ones and from our childhoods. I don't think you can ever have too many beautiful photo frames.
We have travelled all over the world together and have been lucky enough to stay in some beautiful places along the way. But one of the places I'm happiest is actually just our kitchen. We've spent so many wonderful evenings, working through the steps of a recipe together, chopping, stirring, seasoning in unison. With the wine flowing and music playing, we catch up on our respective days, make a few plans, perhaps talk about a holiday, and we laugh and laugh. The kitchen is the heart of our home - and it's filled with love and laughter. Dinners on those special evenings-in are, inevitably, late-ones and they're certainly not Michelin...but they are always memorable.
This year, as most years in fact, we'll be avoiding the love-themed set menus presented by so many over-full restaurants on Valentine's Day and instead we'll spend the evening rustling up a quiet romantic meal for two in our own home. I'll set the table with champagne glasses and create a simple centrepiece with a few fragrant candles. If Mr MWH gives me some flowers, I'll arrange them in a beautiful vase on the table.
When it comes to dishing up, I may bring out some new plates to complete my beautifully dressed table. These charming 'Poetry' plates from Mineheart, with gold edging and amusing poetic lines in blue, can be personalised on the back with your own message. They would make a lovely Valentine's gift. The large dinner plate reads:
"I love the way you look at me, and the way you use your knife. I love the way you eat your food, you give meaning to my life."
My desk, an old school desk, is where I store letters, cards and photos. I have an Aspinal album with my wedding pictures on my desk, propped up with a vice-style bookend from Not On The High Street. I love receiving calls on my vintage-style phone - it has a traditional dial and ring.
I am currently hand-stamping MWH promotional luggage tags (pictured)
Wishing you all a wonderful Valentine's Day.
