Inspired Homeware: Product Guide
Designers and brands take inspiration from a range of different sources to create their products. Some take solace in turning to nature, finding inspiration in locations all over the world; on the ground, in the air and under the sea. Others look to science and investigations into space, creating designer furniture pieces that reflect their personal ideas of what is beyond our world. Many dive into history and culture, with designers looking to traditions of the past and present, allowing them to influence their work. The Longest Stay is proud to be home to an eclectic collection of world-inspired homeware that will inject style into your home.
Inspired by Nature
The Insidherland Fallen Leaves Mirrors which comes in a set of five, is an excellent example of a product that is directly inspired by nature. The set of mirrors replicate the leaves that are blown across the ground in the autumn, their warm gold and copper tones and intricately hand carved designs mimicking the natural aging of a leaf. Due to their handcrafted creation, no two mirrors are exactly the same just like how no two fallen leaves are the identical.
Ginger and Jagger are well known for taking inspiration from nature in their products, while their own unique style is undeniable in the design. The Pearl Wall Lamp, which is influenced by the natural form of a pearl captured within its oyster shell, combines this source of inspiration with delicate metal detailing and marble material, creating a designer lighting piece that is beautifully striking in its aesthetic.
Inspired by Science
The Mind The Gap Galaxy Wallpaper features a faded geometric design overlaying a vivid image of the galaxy, making for a wallpaper that will capture attention regardless of the room it is in. This design takes inspiration from scientific knowledge of space and combines it with an intriguing design that accentuates the deep blues and blacks of the night sky, while the bright light of the stars seems to pierce through the opaque shapes. The other products featured above are similar in their use of science and exploration as inspiration; this, along with the designers’ individual visions, creates some incredibly interesting pieces.
Inspired by History and Culture
Mineheart is a brand that takes an enormous amount of inspiration from historical sources. Their range of cushions and artwork especially highlight their unique style in using traditional imagery, like Victorian portraits, in combination with their quirky and bold style. The Mineheart Isabella Cushion exemplifies just this, with a classic portrait of a woman of yore overlaid with subtle geometric shapes and lines. This striking product, much like the rest of the Mineheart collection, mixes tradition with contemporary style, making for a fabulous piece that will infuse eccentric style into any interior.
A variety of our products take inspiration from places around the world, with the Illulian Freedom Rug celebrating the electrifying dynamism of New York City. With its array of symbolic New York images, including the iconic Statue of Liberty, the product seems to convey admiration for the city’s acceptance, freedom and diversity. Another piece that sources a place as its muse is the Bat Eye Arc Sideboard by Marco Sousa. This designer sideboard was inspired by the landmark D Luis I Bridge in Porto, its structure almost replicating the look of the famous bridge.
