Maison et Objet 2017: Brands, Trends and More!
For anyone unfamiliar with Maison et Objet, it is an incredible interior design trade show that hosts hundreds of brands, allowing them to showcase their latest collections and products. Over the course of five days, Paris is flooded with people from all over the world who can’t wait to see all of the new trends, brands and furniture pieces. The show is split into three sections: Maison, Objet and Influences. Maison is inspired by a variety of different interior concepts and is divided into themes such as Eclectic, Cosy, Complements and Now! Design a Vivre, making for a truly diverse array of displays that will inspire.
The lifestyle tradeshow brings together professionals and brands from diverse areas of the design industry, from decoration to furniture, to accessories and textiles, fragrances, fashion, kids’ products and more! MO2017 took place on January 20-24 and hosted some of our brands, including Boca do Lobo, Mullan and Delightfull, along with many more internationally admired brands from all over the world.
For the last four seasons, three trend consultants, who sit on the Maison et Objet Observatory, have decided upon a theme for the Inspiration Space - this sets out to inspire interiors for the year ahead. The theme for the January 2017 show was ‘Silence’. This concept aimed to introduce a calm atmosphere to the home that contrasts with the busy and hectic world that is consistent with modern life. They believe that the home should be a haven away from the noise of the outside world – a place where you can retreat after a long and tiring day.
Well known brands such as Boca do Lobo and Brabbu exhibited incredibly stunning displays of designer furniture that exude opulence, sophistication and timeless style, mirroring the looks expected to have a great impact on interiors this year. These brands created elegant yet modern spaces, using warm neutral colours mixed with richer tones to create an inviting aesthetic. With excellent lighting pieces introducing a subtle glow and gorgeous statement mirrors reflecting the light, their displays could be taken straight from the show to the home!
French furniture brands such as La Chance, Colonel and Petite Friture played with more vibrant shades in their exquisite furniture displays, acknowledging 2017’s shift from the subtle pink, grey and blue pastel colours we’ve adored in past seasons to bolder hues. Their playful, contemporary and yet graceful designs gained lots of attention at this year’s show. To introduce this trend into your home, look no further than bold statement pieces such as Munna Babe Armchair, or for a more subtle infusion of colour, the Dare Studio Wire Group Coffee Table could be for you!
Designer lighting really stole the show this year, with brands such as Delightfull, Mullan, Sammode Lighting, Nude Glass and many more exhibiting stunning displays of lamps in diverse shapes, sizes and styles. Mullan’s eclectic collection of products range from contemporary designs to items taking inspiration from more traditional sources. Delightful also boast an array of eye catching pieces in their display, including the Delightfull Botti Floor Light! See our collections of Mullan and Delightfull lighting pieces for lamps ideal for your home.
MO2017 also saw a lot of under the sea themed displays, with brands such as Ceramiche Dal Pra exhibiting a number of stunning coral themed sculptures. Objets de Curiosité even filled its display with various pieces of real coral, making for an aesthetic that oozed a natural ocean feeling. Utilising oceanic themes offers an alternative take on bringing nature into the home this year.
Overall, Maison et Objet 2017 was a great success, exhibiting a stunning collection of different brands and trends that have given us more inspiration than we know what to do with!
