Anglo-Italian design duo Brendan Young and Vanessa Battaglia first appeared on the international design scene in 2003 with their up-cycled furniture collection at Salone Satellite in Milan. Working initially under the name Studiomold, their early pieces included their 'Love 36' chair that was made using reject Dunlop tennis balls, and the award winning 'Recycled Sound' speakers made from old vinyl records. In 2011, they founded their own design brand Mineheart, which produces a range of interior accessories in England.
Collaboration with a portuguese postmodernist artist, Joao Figueiredo, who works in acrylic with a strong black palette for maximum impact. Using half-seen fragments of older paintings, he juggles modernity with tradition and infuses the whole with humor, playing with the whole concept of art and how we appreciate it. By ‘appropriating’ these traditional portraits of women of yore – and taking something away – he recreates the feel of Duchamp’s surrealism. Made from 100% cotton satin, with concealed zip and feather pad.
