Thomas Williams Dowdeswell – self taught using his father’s paintbrushes. He creates art driven by his interest in current affairs and human rights. Combining the issues surrounding the human condition with his love for early twentieth-century art movements, he has produced futuristic, geometric and highly fascinating detailed city scapes that aim to provoke conversation about society and the human form. Not only are Dowdeswell's painting rich in narrative, but also in colour and quality. He attempts “to convey an emotion by means of an arrangement of shapes, or planes, or colours”.

This thought provoking work of art by Thomas Dowdeswell is inspired by consumerism, a concept that, as the piece seems to suggest, has become characteristic of modern day life. The bold colours and sharp geometric lines come together to create shopping malls, buildings, tunnels, trains and more - busy scenes which mirror the chaotic modern world.
